New Material Streams, Better Process Control: Polykemi Expands Recycling Capacity with the ReadyMac HD

Demand for high-quality recyclates is growing. Regulatory pressure, rising raw material costs and customers' sustainability requirements are the driving forces. The market demands not only higher quality, but also flexibility in the range of processable material streams.

Polykemi and Rondo Plast have responded with a clear strategy. With the ReadyMac HD, they have increased their production capacity by 2,500 metric tons per year, strengthened process control and unlocked new material streams.

In this article, you will learn how the ReadyMac HD expands the company's recycling portfolio and why flexibility in processing is becoming a decisive competitive advantage.

The Challenge

Polykemi AB and Rondo Plast are among the leading Swedish specialists in plastic compounds, based on both virgin materials and recyclates. The company supplies customers across Europe with high-quality materials that must meet strict quality requirements.

However, sourcing pre-processed PCR material at consistently high quality is not straightforward. Available volumes are limited, quality varies, and engineering plastics such as PC, ABS, PS and PA are rarely available as recyclate in a reliable and sufficiently pure form.

The Decision for ReadyMac HD

The answer from Polykemi and Rondo Plast was an investment in their own processing capacity, improved process quality and a broader application range. In March 2026, the ReadyMac HD went into operation, adding 2,500 metric tons per year to existing production.

Improved Recycling Process

With the ReadyMac HD, many steps in quality control and process stabilisation now take place in-house. By handling the processing themselves, transport steps in the refinement process are eliminated. The result is filtered regranulate, ready for the next processing step immediately.

"With the ReadyMac HD, we manage a larger part of the process and can handle recyclate at an earlier stage than before. The investment allows us to add process stabilisers to the material during upgrading and improve quality assurance."

Processing New Material Streams

Polykemi and Rondo Plast were looking for a solution that would open up new material streams. The ReadyMac HD delivers exactly that. It enables the processing of plastic from entirely new sources, including marine ropes and nets, bottles, as well as non-woven and fibre materials.

Until now, the focus for PCR materials (post-consumer recycled material) had been on PP and PE, as engineering plastics such as PC, ABS, PS and PA were rarely available as recyclate in sufficient purity. With the ReadyMac HD, Polykemi and Rondo Plast can now carry out this upgrading step themselves and expand their product portfolio to include technical plastics.

ReadyMac HD: Technology for Demanding Materials

The ReadyMac HD is based on the patented EREMA TVE technology. The key feature: melt filtration takes place before extruder degassing. This process combines the integrated laser filter with high-performance degassing in a single pass. Contaminants are reliably removed, even with difficult input material.

This is precisely what makes the ReadyMac HD the right tool for Polykemi and Rondo Plast. The laser filter removes contaminants down to 100 µm, enabling the processing of material streams that were previously not economically viable.

ReadyMac HD at a glance:

  • Processes unwashed, moist and printed films with up to 5% contaminant content
  • Throughput up to 500 kg/h
  • Multi-purpose screw: processes PE, PP, PS, PC and PA 6.0
  • Proven TVE extrusion technology, in use worldwide

Flexibility as a Competitive Advantage

Polykemi and Rondo Plast demonstrate how targeted investments in in-house processing capacity can fundamentally expand a company's scope of action. With the ReadyMac HD, they have not only scaled up production. They have strengthened control over their process, unlocked new material streams and extended their portfolio to include technical plastics. This positions them well for upcoming regulatory requirements and enables them to guarantee their customers a more reliable material supply.
